Meet Christopher Lawson

Designated a prohibited immigrant by apartheid South Africa, deported from Zambia and declared a distressed British subject by HM Ambassador, Antananarivo, Chris transformed himself from bush teacher to TESOL professional at the University of London Institute of Education and was appointed British Council Lecturer at Cuza University in 1976, during Romania’s Communist era. Fascinated, he returned to Romania some 60 times and has visited most parts of the country. Tiring of Nordic perfection after 19 years in Copenhagen, he settled in Iasi in 2003.
Chris likes trains, theatre, politics, the blues and seafood, and eating grilled sardines while Atlantic breakers smash on the Portuguese shoreline.Articles by Christopher Lawson
